Social Supermarket
Our social supermarket and community café is based at the rear of Victoria Park Methodist Church in Plainmoor – opposite Lidl on St Marychurch Road.
This service is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am until 2pm.
We run a social supermarket that, if eligible, you can join for a period of 12 weeks, pay £5 each week and receive 30 points towards your shopping items. You can redeem these points for shopping items to the value of about £30.
After the 12 weeks you will be asked to complete a financial assessment form and then if you are still in need of food support you will be able to continue to use the supermarket.
Alongside the social supermarket is a community café and here anyone can access free teas, coffees and lunch. We also have donations of bread and other items which are free to take.
Funding for the social supermarket comes direct from Torbay Council but we are always fundraising and accepting donations for items such as feminine hygiene products and children’s toys. If you can help in any way, then please speak to a member of staff.
We are part of Torbay Food Alliance and work alongside the other partners. https://www.torbayfoodalliance.org
